This feel good movie is based on the book "Q&A" by the Indian Diplomat Vikas Swarup. Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of a young man from the slums of Mumbai (Bomaby when Jamal the protaganist was child. huh!) who appears on a game show and exceeds people's expectations, arousing the suspicions of the game show host and of law enforcement officials. The movie successfully depicts the story of a slum dweller boy, the harder part of life which many of us could find difficult to chew. There is still a large part of society in India (not only India its a global phenomenon) which have yet not reaped the fruits of the economic uprising. Life in slums have become more difficult in recent years. But this movie is not just the story of this small timer boy Jamal but of the aspirations and dreams of hundreds and thousands of people out here in this country which hase been the eye of storm of economic developemnt (missing a little) with a galloping economy (not badly affected by the global economic meltdown). Its story of a nation, its story of the people, and not to forget its a love story. A life journey of a young man on his search for his lost love.

This movie has already snatched a handfull of prestigious awards (including 4 Gloden Globes) but it remains to be seen that will the movie will be able to garner enough support (and I Believe it will!!!) for itself to hit the jackpot (The Academy Awards). And partly because most awards have already been declared by the people (including Best Supporting Actor to ............ {yeah! Heath Ledger} The Joker from The Dark Knight, best animated Movie to Wall-E). The movie may be nominated for Best Director, Best Movie, Best Screenplay (adapted), Best Score and even Best Actor/Supporting Actor.

But never forget no one is underdog because afterall it's a Slumdog Millionaire. And the biggest question "?" Why the people across the world loving this movie?

The Kite Runner (2007) is an academy award nominated movie based on Khaled Hosseini bestseller novel of the same name. It tells the story of Amir, a young boy in Afghanistan just before the Soviet Invasion. The story revolves around Amir and his guilt of betraying his best friend Hassan. Hassan being a Hazara boy was tormented by some other childs of locality. The movie is successful in bringing out the emotions of these two Afghan childs. The movie successfully portrays the turbulent atmosphere of Afghanistan as well as the ethnic tension pervalent there. It shows the emotions of the people out there.

It cannot be said whether the American war on terrorism has helped the Afghan people or not but the life under the Taliban is regime was really tough- it underestimated the human factor. Some scenes clearly depicts the hardship faced by the people under the Taliban regime. The clerics or mullahs as they are popularly known ruled the roost. In one scene a man was hanged out and bullet shots were visible. In other a woman wearing the burqa or a veil whichever term you prefer was sitting with her child like a statue beside a trashed Soviet-era tank on a broken road. And again there is a scene in which there is Shari'a law being followed by killing a veiled woman by stoning (stone-pelting). Now a days same situation appears in Wajiristan area of Pakistan where terrorist and mullahs do the justice. This movie is worth watching and I can bet that it could well be one of your favourites too. This movie is about human emotions. It is story of friendship, of a father and son, of a writer and above all of a country, the God-forsaken land which every one forgot. Do you really care???

Some Legacies Must End American History X is 1998 movie of a neo-nazi skinhead and his brother who is following him on the same path- the path of hate. The tagline of this movie is: "His father taught him to hate. His friends taught him rage. His enemies gave him hope." The movie is partly shot in black and white and it gives it a classical look. The movie deals with the ideas of racism and white supermacism in the United States of America. References to the Aryan Brotherhood are quite clear. In one scene the protaganist avoids being called a young KKK.

The movie raises various serious questions such as whether affiramtive action is correct not in the context of the states but globally. Natives are feeling disillusioned with the globalization because it eventually hurting them. They are turning xenophobic. But the movie ends with a positive note with the narrator learning the truth behind the hate. The movie ends with narrator (who is now dead) quoting the conclusion of Abraham Lincoln's first inaugral address.
